Frequently Asked Questions for Potential Small Business Champions

Who can join the Small Business Champions Team?

The Small Business Champions Team is for high quality, tried and tested, ethical small business specialists, service providers and advisors who genuinely care about supporting small businesses.  To be accepted onto the team you must provide products, services or education specifically aimed at helping small business and you will need to be endorsed by a current Small Business Champion Team member and provide feedback from happy clients.

Who are the target audience for the Hub?

The target audience for the Small Business Hub are Australian small businesses with fewer than 20 employees as defined by the ABS.

These include:

  • Non-employing business – include sole traders and partnerships with no employees in addition to the business owners.
  • Micro-businesses – these businesses employ between 1 and 4 people.
  • Other small businesses – these businesses employ between 5 and 19 employees.

There are currently over 2 million of these businesses in Australia and this number is expected to grow significantly over the next few years.

On the downside, statistics show that over 50% of them will fail within their first five years.  that’s over a million shattered dreams.

The vision of the BB4G Small Business Champions Team is to cut that number in half and help half a million extra businesses survive and thrive.

What does it cost?

Small Business Champions pay an initial joining fee of $195 (GST incl).  This covers the cost of your listing in the directory and Facebook Group with 50% going towards  initial paid advertising to launch the Hub.

There will be no ongoing charge for listing, however Small Business Champions will be required to maintain a satisfactory feedback rating on the site to maintain their listing.

What are the benefits of being a Small Business Champion?

If you’re first questions are about “What’s in it for you?”  “What’s the ROI? “How many new clients will I get?” then you are most likely in the wrong place.

“It is one of the most beautiful compensations of life that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

The Small Business Champions Hub is about making a real difference in the lives and businesses of new and struggling small business owners. We want to give them a safe place to come to get the services, resources, knowledge and support they need to thrive in an ever changing world.

It stands to reason that by helping more small businesses succeed you’ll open up new opportunities for your business to thrive.

What do I get and what are the commitments?

You’ll receive a listing in the Small Business Champions Directory, and you’ll be tagged as an expert in the Small Business Champions Facebook Group.

We ask that all of our Champions:

  • participate actively in the Facebook Group, responding to questions and providing quality information and resources.
  • promote the Small Business Champions directory and Facebook Group to your contacts and on social media.
  • invite your contacts who provide quality services to small business to join the Small Business Champions Team.

You’ll also be part of an active network of likeminded business specialists, advisors and service providers where you can collaborate, build alliances and better support your clients.

“Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much”.  Helen Keller

What's the launch plan?

We’ll launch the directory and Facebook Group as soon as we reach our target of 100 Australian Small Business Champions.  Based on 20 new champions each month we’re on target to launch at the end of 2022 ready to help small businesses get off to the best possible start in 2023.

The launch plan will be developed in consultation with the relevant experts from the Small Business Champions Team and will involve all members doing their bit in making it a success.
